Welcome to based...

Based music has become a huge trend ever since Lil B the Based God came out with his based mixtapes.  Now Soulja Boy has hopped on it.  Here's him and Riff Raff, who was signed to SODMG, with their song "Versace Bentley."   You may remember Riff Raff from MTV's "G's to Gents."  Quite the colorful character.

Shoutout to the Tyler, the Creator cameo.

*WARNING, IF YOU ARE A TRUE HIP HOP HEAD, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK BELOW. STRICTLY FOR THE BASED.*

Editor's Note: Yes I cook and like based music, but I do not feel this is hip hop.  It's just fun music not to be taken seriously ;)

Hype: Phresh Ali

From time to time I'm gonna blog people who may not be famous- YET- but def need to be, and this guy Phresh Ali is one them.  Heard about him from my homeboy DJ Tune in Atlanta.  His flow is stupid! Currently signed to STARkast, dude is making big moves.

Thumbs up for The Internet

Syd tha Kid and Matt Martians, two producers of Odd Future have come together to form The Internet.

And I loveeeeeeeee them.

My interest in Syd came about when I heard Flashlight.  Seriously, THE MOST PLAYED SONG ON MY ITUNES.  Who thought behind her boyish features there was such an angelic voice?

Not I.  But I'm sure as hell happy there was.

Flashlight - Syd tha Kid

Their video concepts are dope, though if you are already a fan of OFWGKTA you know that all of their videos are pretty creative (thinking about She x Tyler, the Creator & Frank Ocean as I type this).  The two I've seen so far involve Syd and her girlfriend, and after watching them I see how "Cocaine" (though released first) follows the story for their new video "Fastlane."

Fastlane - The Internet

Cocaine - The Internet

And now they have an album entitled Purple Naked Ladies, which- if I do say so myself (from what I've heard)- is pretty cool.  Gotta give it a few more listens, but so far so good.  The digital version became available Dec. 20th, with the physical deluxe album coming out on the 31st of this month.  Give it a listen.  Though I don't rep Odd Future, I can't deny the talented people in their group, especially The Internet.

So who has two thumbs and gives them up to The Internet?

A$AP Rocky - Wassup

Here's the brand new video for Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky.  He'll be holdin' it down on Drake's "Club Paradise" Tour, starting Valentine's Day.  I love how he wakes up at the end of th vid.  Fame doesn't come THAT fast. In due time, Rocky.

All Music Fans UNITE!: Coachella 2012

This may just be the best lineup Coachella has ever had (well, in my eyes).

As STOKED as I am, this will be another year I will not be in attendance- being that I live on the other side of the country and cannot afford the the ticket price ($269).  Maybe next year...

But I'll be strong and move on, for I as well as many others will be there in spirit.

But let's talk about this lineup.

KENDRICK LAMAR. THE WEEKND. FLORENCE & THE MACHINE. FRANK OCEAN. LA ROUX. SANTIGOLD. A$AP ROCKY. DRE. SNOOP. AZEALIA BANKS. CHILDISH GAMBINO. WOLFGANG...Plus the countless other musicians I have yet to (but soon will) hear.

COACHELLA IS GONNA BE A MAD HOUSE, MARK MY WORDS.

To all who will be in attendance, take pictures, sing along until you can't anymore, and have one hell of a good time...

...I'll be wishing on the stars for a roundtrip ticket to Cali in the meantime...
