Ab-Soul shows off his skills on "SOPA"

If you like rappers like Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q then you will love Ab-Soul, who's actually been out for a good minute.  His flow is dope.  There isn't much to say about this dude, his music speaks for itself, and it's bomb.

He just dropped a new track with Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate Schoolboy Q entitled "SOPA."  As they clearly show they don't give a damn about the Stop Online Piracy Act, Ab and Q both went in, respectively.
Ab-Soul- SOPA feat. Schoolboy Q

Get his mixtape "Longterm 2 (Lifestyles of the Broke & Almost Famous)" to hear more of dude until his album "Control System" drops May 11th.  He has about 7 more concerts coming up (the tour ends in May), so try to check him out with Schoolboy Q if they come to your area.

Cyeah Cyeah Cyeah Cyeah...No no, that's not a typo.

When rappers who have different styles collab it can be the worst thing or the greatest hit.  Now try to picture a song with Gucci's southern flair, a rapping Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne post-No Ceilings with a spanish guitar on the beat...

No wait, it's actually not all bad.

Gucci Mane will always be popular to his fans who have probably been there since the beginning, so they'll all either be bumpin' to this, or argue the old tale of how "he was better when...," as all fans do with their favorite rappers.  When it comes to C. Breezy, people don't give the man credit where it's due.  He's rapping what he knows about, and he sounds better than about a quarter of the emcees coming out now.  He gets my respect, though he should still stick to serenading the females.  And this panda ski-mask, legging wearing dude named Weezy needs to go have a sit down and have all Da Drought mixtapes drilled into his head until he can come out with music (or at least a good feature) like those again.

So what do y'all think?  Is this song a Cyeah Cyeah Cyeah or a NO NO NO?

Make sure y'all check out his mixtape "I'm Up," dropping Memorial Day weekend.

Wanna take a ride? Get In... The "Pluto" Review

Now everyone who knows me knows I love the Astronaut Kid.  He had me when "Watch This" started playing in the clubs.  His catchy beats, the syrup-covered hooks, and his hype had me sold.

Then I heard Pluto when it dropped last week, and now it's just...idk.

I've been riding with dude.  But we all know how it is when someone gets signed.  Things just change, they have a standard they have to live up to now to get paid.  I mean, the only big hits he has on the album have already been released on older mixtapes.

I like this man- that's why I'm upset.  Now I'm not putting the album down- "Parachute," "Homicide," "Long Live The Pimp" (dedicated to the late, great Pimp C) & "I'm Trippin'" are pretty straight.  The features did their thing, shoutout to Snoop, Juicy J, Trae the Truth and R. Kelly. "Samn Damn Time," "Magic" and "Tony Montana" went in- last year.  Yeah he may have got Drake and T.I. on the tracks, but those features are just as old.  All the singing he got going on on "Pluto" needs to cease- immediately.  This man got famous for putting out hype sh*t- that's what we want when we spend $10+ on this album!

All in all, this could have been a wayyy better album, but I'm not gonna stop messing with Future, because I know what this man is capable of.  He just needs to come back down to Earth for a little while and give us what he's good for, because for the most part, this isn't it.  I'm out.

Maroon 5 x Wiz produce a monster hit with "Payphone"

When Hip-Hop and Pop combine it's a beautiful thing.

Maroon 5, seemingly one of the best bands of the 21st century, has recently dropped their newest single "Payphone," which - if you have a good ear- is knowingly going to be the next big radio hit.  The "She Will Be Loved" band appealed to a different crowd, however, when they decided to feature the biggest hip-hop artist out right now, Mr. TaylorGang himself.  Not his greatest bars, but between the two acts they definitely reached a bigger fan base with this hit.  I'm not a big listener of the radio, but I'm pretty sure this has started playing already.  Check it out below.

Also catch Adam Levine of Maroon 5 every week on "The Voice," which is pretty good, if I do say so myself.  They actually performed this song on the show.

You needa check the stats...

Travyyyy has done it again.

Now for the lovers of Southern club music, Travis Porter released yet another music video for one of the hottest songs on their "Differenter 3" mixtape, which came out a minute ago (some time late last year). Now having gone to college in Georgia, "My Team Winning'" was the business when it first came out, I know I was jiggin' and reciting all the words every time it played.  The lyrics, true to Travis Porter form, are provocative, and is perfect for the young people who like to have a good time with the team.  Wale went it, which of course would be unheard of if he didn't.

Before I pressed play I knew it would only be right if they made this video in the club with a bunch of girls from the A and dudes just being dudes.  Bottles, blunts, people stuntin' and the like.

Was I wrong? Of course not.  Peep the vid below:

Travis Porter ft. Wale - My Team Winnin'

Look out for these dudes as they finally release their debut album, "From Day 1" May 29th.

He "Got That Work"

...So apparently women ruined his life.

So today Mr. F-A-B-O-L-O-U-S released a video from his fairly old jawn "There Is No Competition (Death Comes In 3's."  Most of his fans have been bumpin' this since Christmas- I know I have.  The video-simple, however the song is hot (just like the rapper performing it) so it gets a pass.  Shoutout to Aristotle for directing it.

If you haven't already make sure you download that mixtape, which can be found right here.  Check out the vid for "Got That Work" below:

Nice shirt, by the way.

All Hail Yeezy

Kanye West is back with more music, thank the Based God.  All weekend "Mercy" and "Way Too Cold"* have been blasting through people's speakers worldwide.

Mercy is crack! The sample (which I can't decipher) and the beat was murdered by Yeezy himself, along with Big Sean, Pusha T, and 2 Chainz.  With this being the first single off the long-awaited G.O.O.D. Music compilation album, I'm definitely expecting a video soon.

Mercy- Kanye feat Big Sean x Pusha T x 2 Chainz

Now for "Way Too Cold."  Yeezy went in on this one solo, dropping names in the second verse, showing us that he's back, bringing the heat and stirring up controversy.  While saying he respects Wiz for wanting to "f*ck his old chick," he shoutouts his new girlfriend (old cutbuddy) Kim Kardashian, while letting Kris Humphries know he is lucky he didn't make Jay Z drop him from the Nets (the basketball team Hova owns and Kris plays for).
Way Too Cold- Kanye

Now we just gotta wait for more releases from G.O.O.D. Music and the album.  I am gonna guarantee right now that this is gonna be on "Watch The Throne" status- you heard it here first.

*Yeezy recently changed the title of "Theraflu" to "Way Too Cold."

Give Future & Kellz a "Parachute"

With Future's debut album, "Pluto" dropping April 17th, be prepared to hear a lot of songs from the album within the next few weeks.  Future is Atlanta's hottest thing smokin (or leanin') right now, and apparently R. Kelly peeped that and decided to do a track with him.  I'm impressed with the artists who have decided to come back lately, and Kelly definitely brought back his style on "Parachute."  I love Future's hype that he bring to his songs, but it was nice to see him slow it down a bit on this one.  Hear the song below, and make sure you cop that album soon.  FREEBANDZ!!!

Peep the tracklist for "Pluto" under the video.

Rick Ross x Fabolous x Cassidy "Birthday Cake" Remixes

Everyone who listens to R&B knows how hot Rihanna's "Birthday Cake" has been these past few weeks, made even more popular with Chris Brown's remix on it.  Now it seems tons of rappers have decided to hop on it, giving us a piece of their cake with their remixes and freestyles on the track.  I've heard plenty, but the ones that stuck out the most were Fabolous, Cassidy, and Rick Ross' verses.  Cassidy, the freestyle king, went in, though who didn't expect that?  Nice to see him back out. Fabolous with the autotune though? Ehh, we could've done without, but in the end? Niceeeee *fab voice*.  Now with a song title with food involved and Rozay adding his 2 cents, you know the jokes were endless, but I won't be surprised if I hear his part on the radio.

Which one do you like better? Hear them all below:

Drake's "Take Care" & "HYFR" music videos

Video still from Drake's "Take Care" video

A few days ago Drake dropped two new celebrity filled video's from songs off his "Take Care" album.  That album is fire, it's only right dude makes plenty of videos for it.  The video for "Take Care" featuring Rihanna was alright.  Of course there wasn't too much action in the video for the R&B cut, but still a nice visual when listening to the song.  A complete 180 for "HYFR," however.  We get to see little Aubrey in the first few seconds as we party with him for the rest of the video as he gets re-bar mitzvah'd.  With appearances from Trey Songz and the usual YMCMB clan, it was nice to see homie show us his religion, since we don't get that a lot with rappers these days.

Check out both videos below, and if you haven't already listened to "Take Care," where the hell have you been?

HYFR- Drake x Lil Wayne

Take Care- Drake x Rihanna

Cypher Special: Wale x Meek Mill x French Montana

I'm always down to hear a cypher with some good rappers, and I wasn't disappointed with Wale, Meek Mill, and French Montana's "Bag of Money" Freestyle while they shot the video, also featuring Rozay and T-Pain. This wasn't the best, but it was obvious they were just having fun.

"Rice Krispy, I'll snap, crack and pop you...That's what I'm eatin." -Meek

LOL. What?

Check it out plus the song "Bag of Money" below. Shoutout to MMG, they're making major moves. BAWSE!!!

Do You Beez In The Trap?

Okay, if you read this blog you know I'm not the biggest Barbie fan, but when I saw she had a video out with 2 Chainz I had to give it a look.  It's the typical new-Nicki rapping, hot beat track one would expect.  2 Chainz didn't do much for the track except give it an excuse to be on the radio and in the club.  The hook will be repeated by the Barbie army everywhere.  Probably won't see this one on TV folks, as it includes scantily clad strippers doing what they do best (BET Uncut, where did you go?)

All in all, it's not horrible-the beat is infectious and Nicki is always nice to look at.  What do you guys think?

Cop her album, out in stores now.
