I think people forgot how dope Banks is since he hasn't been out in forever. It's all good though, because with this cut from his upcoming mixtape "V6," people will remember- I hope. This track is good- not his best, but it's nice to see him out again. This man has bars, plus the beat is crack. Watch out for Lloyd Banks, he's back y'all.
A few days ago A$AP Rocky dropped a freestyle out in London over The Diplomats "I Really Mean It" and Tyler, the Creator's "Goblin." Nothing much to say here, if you like the 23-year-old, Harlem bred rapper, you'll like it. I feel he was better over the Yonkers beat about halfway in. What y'all think?

Now a lot of people have been giving Miss Minaj the side eye lately now that it seems she has completely crossed over to pop. Yeah her title when she first came out was a rapper, but why the big deal because she's branching out? I'm not the biggest fan of her but I have to admit Nicki Minaj is a great entertainer and a smart businesswoman. She just signed a multi-million dollar endorsement deal with Pepsi for their new drink "Pop," and is getting ready for her second album release. Hate her or love her, she's not going anywhere. Here is a cut off her new album featuring R&B crooner Chris Brown, entitled "Right By My Side." Here she shows off her singing skills, a definite summer jam.

For someone who has followed Teyana Taylor since her days
with Pharell, I’m glad she has finally gotten some kind of recognition. She has come a long way from “You ain’t nobody,
‘Google Me Baby’.” Last week the
curly-haired tomboy finally released a collection of music for her fans, a
mixtape entitled “The MisUnderstanding of Teyana Taylor,” a nice play on the
similar Lauryn Hill title.
Her version of “Marvin’s Room” by Drake is by far the
mixtape favorite. The video, featuring
Omarion, shows her grown and sexy side (and her envious 6-pack). She shows her appreciation to Lauryn more
than a few times, the first being the similar mixtape album titles. On “Lauryns Interlude,” she covers Hill’s “Doo
Wop (That Thing),” showing off her beautiful voice, then again when she
presents audio of Miss Lauryn on “Words of Wisdom.” She also pays homage to Mary J. Blige, putting
her own twist on “Love No Limit” on her own track, “You Know.”
The features on her mixtape are a hit and miss. Songs like “D.U.I.” with Fabolous and
Jadakiss and “Make Your Move” featuring Wale are smooth. She worked with great artists, though the
songs would have still sounded good without them. “Bad Boy” (featuring Honey Cocaine) honestly
could’ve been left off, sounding more like the female version to French Montana’s
“Shot Caller,” in the first couple of lines.
Honey Cocaine (the female Tyga) is just…well, the female Tyga. I mean honestly, it’s called substance- get
some. Travis Porter gives us their regular
sex-crazed teen talk over a fairly hot beat you can dance to on “Choosin,”
though the song itself wasn’t impressive.
JSYK (Just So You Know): For the record, “Complicated” was
recorded a while back- though I feel this is obvious when it sounds more like a
teeny-bopper track compared to the rest of the mixtape. Her teen fans, however, will appreciate it.
All in all the mixtape was nice, smooth and chill with a few
hip-pop songs throughout. For her first
big release, Teyana showed promise, and I’m awaiting an album or another
mixtape that is gonna really help her blow up.

Odd Future released their second album where everyone from
the group is featured earlier this week.
The OF Tape, Vol. 2 showcases everybody’s style over their fire beats. Tyler really came a long way from “Hot Ass
Beat, Clap.” As much as I love samples,
I can appreciate that Odd Future make most of their beats. These guys (and Syd) are truly hit-makers and
a force to be reckoned with. Some people
may like that this crew has decided not to be as out there and “psychotic” this
time around, gaining them a lot more attention.
Because, you know, not everyone has people talking to them in their
heads or wants to burn their school down.
Fortunately for their fans, they haven’t lost their crazy and hilarious charm
they’re Youtube famous for, giving us outrageous tracks like their single “Rella”,“We
Got B*tches,” and “Hi,” featuring a brief description of each member of OF
featuring L-Boy.
Frank Ocean and The Internet give us some chill, R&B
tracks on this album. Ocean delivers a
serenade on “White,” which I’m hoping is a preview to his album coming out this
spring. Matt and Syd give us the sexy,
sultry track “Ya Know,” in which love prevails when it comes to the person they
want to be with.
On their song “Oldie,” nine of the members in the group (including
Earl) spit a few bars over the ten minute, 36 second track. With this track you can’t deny the talent and
skills these rappers offer. Tyler, the
Creator gives us part 2 to his infectious “Analog,” with Frank Ocean and Syd
tha Kyd hopping on it this time around.
While enjoying Hodgy Beats and Frank on “Snow White,” I had to check my
headphones during the end- but of course it was OF messin’ with us, adding unnecessary
static as the song faded out. The other songs on this 18 album track show just
how much this crew has improved over a short period of time (another highlight
is “P”). They’ve already proven themselves
to millions, but if you’re not one of them, cop the album and hear OF- they
have officially taken over.

Now unless you've been hiding under a rock, you've heard Kirko Bangz melodious track "Drank In My Cup." The hot song has given tons of rappers and singers a beat to freestyle over and remake as their own.
I've heard a few good ones, including Kid Ink's weed-enhanced version "Stank In My Blunt," but when J. Cole dropped the mastered version of his freestyle earlier, I had to give it to dude. It's not his best but his voice does the beat justice.
Then I heard 2 Chainz' remix on it and decided that if Kirko didn't put these two rappers on the official remix he could be missing out on his already fire single making it bigger with two of the hottest rappers out right now. 2 Chainz has a unique flow, one that makes him memorable in the rap game, and he did that on this remix.

Wiz dropped his 10th mixtape today, "Taylor Allderdice"
Young Khalifa man gave us another drug-induced mixtape earlier today. As always he gave us the familiar Wiz flow we've all grown to love, beats that sound 10x better when they can be played at high volume, and for all you potheads tree lovers a mixtape for your next session.
It's so funny, when I think of Wiz I always think back to when my mom saw him for the first time on the B.E.T. Awards last year and was all like, "He seems so mellow."

All he needs is Mary, Mary, Mary *in his voice* (referring to "Mary 3x"). I kinda chuckle when dude starts singing. Leave it to Amber, honey (or not).
Wiz reminds me of a young Snoop, just with less substance. However, the man still delivers and has millions of people still reppin' Taylor Gang. This guy has made himself a staple in a session or party playlist. I've already had "My Favorite Song" (literally) on repeat for a few weeks (shoutout to Juicy J), and "Never Been Part II" feat Amber Rose and Mr. Rozay, "The Grinder" and "T.A.P." have been played today more than a few times.
So at the end of the day Wiz gave us what we knew he would on his 17-track mixtape, which also happens to be his 10th one.
Monday ya boy K.R.I.T. came out with his long-awaited mixtape, "4Eva N A Day." I think we all knew to expect nothing but the best from this guy- and after listening to his mixtape for a few days I can say that we all thought right. I saw him in concert last August and it was live- definitely a cool, chill dude. His chill flow is all over this mixtape (with the perfect beats), perfect for those days when you're just kicking back or cruisin'. I can honestly there's not one song on here I would skip. Props to Big K.R.I.T., he did his thing once again.
Not much to say this time around, the songs speak for themselves.
Melanie Fiona brings us a hot new single with Rapper J. Cole
When it comes to R&B, Melanie Fiona is on the come up. Every woman sang into our remotes and hairbrushes along to "4 a.m." (or maybe that was just me). Then Miss Fiona put out a video just as good to go along with the single (he should've been at home wth her-hmph). Heartbreak sure has a way of making an R&B artist give a song their all (i.e. Monica, Mary J. Keyshia Cole), because Melanie Fiona gave me life with this joint.
Now her and J. Cole have teamed up again (without Wale) to bring you their new song together entitled "This Time," which has everything it needs to be the next big radio hit. Looks like she's trying to make a past relationship better. I'm looking forward to the video. Look out for this 28-year-old's sophomore album, "The MF Life," out in stores March 20th.
Hodgy Beats recently released his "Untitled EP" mixtape and it's surprisingly dope as hell.
His mixtapes with Left Brain as "MellowHype" were decent, however this showed me that this guy is growing up and ready to really deliver. Even on the shorter songs like "If Heaven is a Ghetto" & "Ave" Hodgy went in.
If you know me then you know I'm a sucker for good samples used properly. I heard "Higashi LovesYou" where Hodgy used Patti Labelle's "Somebody Loves You Baby" and decided that this is one of those mixtapes I could sit back and vibe to for a while. The members of Odd Future are good for providing hot bars over some nice samples, (Domo Genesis especially) so I wasn't completely surprised. Hodgy sounds nice on all the tracks, but certain ones like "Bullshittin" over Juicy J's beat and "In A Dream" showed me he's not just the goofball I thought he was (watch the "Rella" video + the trailer for Loiter Squad and you'll see why this was said).

So if you haven't heard of Rita Ora, let me give you a little background. Signed to RocNation, this cute Albanian singer from London is the next R&B/Pop artist to hit it big. With the help of Jay-Z she is releasing hits, one of them being "R.I.P" featuring Tinie Tempah. Mama has been around for a minute now, I remember seeing pics of her when I first made my Tumblr a few years back.

Sound familiar? Probably because you heard Drake sing the exact same thing on his song "I'm Ready For You" back in 2010. He let Rita have the song, similar to when he gave Jamie Foxx "Fall For Your Type," which, if you didn't already know, was a huge hit. The internet is saying Rihanna would have been on this song if Drake would've made it his single, or he would have just let her have the entire song to herself. To add on to the rumors, Jay-Z may have given this song to Rita instead of Rihanna since she decided to make those songs with Chris Brown. Just messy I tell you...

I personally think both Drake & Rita did the song justice. I could also see Rihanna singing some parts of this as well. It's a nice little hit either way. Watcha think?
